Axel began his legal career in civil litigation, managing numerous cases in both the State and Supreme Courts, including appearances in the Court of Appeal. His work has been featured in law reports, and two of his cases are included in seminal works on Civil Procedure in Singapore. One of his cases even led to a change in the (then) Subordinate Court Rules after an appeal determined that a provision in the Rules was "ultra vires" the (then) Subordinate Courts Act. 

 

He has represented internationally recognized organizations, including Citibank, American Express, and Groupe Schneider. During his four-year tenure in the public sector from January 2013 to March 2017, Axel played a crucial role in establishing and managing a new department for a Statutory Board before returning to private practice. 

 

In addition to his legal work, Axel is committed to community service. For 12 years, he served as the Honorary Legal Advisor to the Singapore Armed Forces Yacht Club and has been actively involved with the Ministry of Home Affairs' Criminal Law Advisory Committee for 25 years, taking on various roles, including Vice-Chairman and Chairman. In recognition of his service, Axel has been honored by the State with the PBM (Public Service Medal) and BBM (Public Service Star).
