Karen Yoong was called to the Singapore Bar in 1991. She practised with Assomull Pereira & Partners, Edmond Pereira & Partners and Michael Khoo & Partners, primarily in the fields of criminal and civil litigation.
Karen has appeared in the State and Supreme Courts (including the Court of Appeal) for both capital cases and civil appeals. She has acted in litigation involving statutory boards, government companies, national associations and financial institutions, covering trusts, negligence and professional negligence, property and shareholder disputes, insurance, defamation, probate and family law, insolvency and committal proceedings.
In 1999 Karen joined the Citibank Corporate eBanking team as manager of the Regional Documentation Hub. Subsequently she built a team of documentation and system specialists in her capacity as the first Account Services Head of Citi Singapore’s corporate bank. Karen was next appointed the Head of the Regional Paralegal team, focused on global and crossborder contract negotiations.
In the course of her varied experiences, Karen has garnered much insight into the Legal, Compliance, Tax, Audit, Risk, Tech, Operational and Customer Service issues faced by organisations all over the world.
